The layer game

Mixing fabrics and trying my hardest to transition into spring, however the weather isn't letting that happen. So in the mean time, I'll keep wearing thigh high boots instead of tights, using over sized cardigans as coats, and always keeping a scarf handy. I'm wearing a vintage satin slip style dress with a vintage sweater, thigh high boots, a scarf consisting of 3 different plaid patterns and I finished the look with a black fringe bag.

Blue Blood Blues

'Check your lips at the door woman.
Shake your hips like battleships.

Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.'
'If I left, you'd never see me again.
You'd never see me again.
I wouldn't leave a trace.'

I'm currently listening to the Dead Weather, if you couldn't tell.
It's officially spring time and I was so excited to not have to layer to the nth degree!
Now I just need a tan, and for this esthetician that means purchasing a fresh bottle of Fake n' Bake, forever trying to avoid UVA rays and premature aging like the plague ha ha

I'm wearing a navy blue mini dress that made putting an outfit together a breeze, western inspired ankle boots, and a black jacket with faux leather panels. Accessorized with my full moon necklace from Solus Lupus, a vintage blue and green snake skin clutch, and I borrowed my boyfriends classic Ray Ban wayfarers (a birthday gift to him from me, that I knew I was going to take advantage of ;)

Cropped Sweaters & Ripped Jeans

Wearing my jeans from 8th grade, still got it! ;) ha ha They were actually a gift from my father for Christmas and I've brought them from apartment to apartment with me pulling them out on certain occasions for a nostalgic experience.  I remember wearing them with the coral henley and pale pink clogs he had paired with them. What an amazing dad right? Going to Abercrombie & Fitch and assembling an outfit for his 14 year old daughter, not knowing that would be his last Christmas gift to me, it just fills my heart with joy when I think about that and inspires me to always go above and beyond for the ones I love.
It was also in 8th grade that I wore a black sweater and a brown leather belt, which should have really not mattered to anyone, however, by second period I was hearing all about how a particular group of girls were saying that I didn't have a clue what I was doing, wondering aloud why would I ever wear brown and black, that it was just a rule not to wear the two together.  I remember pretending to not care and say that I didn't follow rules, which I didn't, but I began to feel anxious and a bit self conscious.  Looking back now it all seems so silly, I wasn't doing anything "wrong" I was being myself.  So here's to not following the "rules", being true to yourself, and to the lovely combination of black and brown! ;)

Today's look also features a cropped cream sweater, a black beanie, and one of my greatest thrifting finds to date: a vintage Louis Vuitton bag! Louis Vuitton purses became one of my first fashion obsessions, I'm still dreaming of the graffiti speedy bag.
